That’s entirely up to you! Most groups opt not to and choose to keep the focus of the meeting on the meeting. It’s totally reasonable to have water ready and maybe a light snack like pretzels or granola bars. This is our recommendation because it minimizes distraction.
However, some mentors/churches find a lot of value in breaking bread together before a meeting and we can totally get behind that. So if you don’t want to incorporate dinner into your meetings, we suggest offering a light meal before the meeting and making it optional. Believe it or not, three hours can go by quickly, and your mentors will need every minute they can for each meeting. So, if you’re meeting starts at 7pm, dinner would be from 6:30-7pm, with the explicit understanding that once 7pm hits, you’re in meeting mode.
